DEKALB JUNCTION — Sarah Lovina Brown, 92, who lived on Burgoyne Avenue, Hudson Falls died late Saturday evening, March 13, 2010, after a short illness at the Pines Nursing Home in Glens Falls, NY.

Born July 23, 1917 in Dekalb, NY she was the daughter of Harvey and Blanche Lawrence Hardy.

Sarah married Nathan E. Brown on November 11, 1942 at the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Oliver K. Barker officiating, Mr. Brown's brother in law.

She was a graduate of Richville High School, class of 1937. Sarah also attended and graduated from Effie Wallace Secretarial School at Ogdensburg, NY. She worked as a secretary at Beaver River High School, Lowville Cooperative Extension and Future Farms of America Camp on the Oswegatchie River. Sarah enjoyed knitting, her embroidery and caring for her home.

Mrs. Brown was a very active member in Beaver Falls Methodist Church and Hudson Falls Methodist Church.

Sarah was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Nathan E. Brown, who passed away on October 16, 2002, a daughter, Mary Jean Brown, who passed away at birth on August 17, 1944, two brothers, William and Richard Hardy of Gouverneur and a sister Doris Yerton of Manlius, NY.

Survivors include her two daughters, Nancy Beaupre of Fort Edward and Sarah Jane McAndrews of Anniston, Alabama and her companion John Card, a granddaughter Sarah M. (McAndrews) Plumley and her husband, Jeremiah, of Fort Edward; a sister Marian Betsinger of East Rochester, a brother Clyde Hardy of Gouverneur, along with several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the Regan and Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury, N.Y., on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the spring at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Richville, NY. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the funeral home.
