MASSENA — A Mass of the Resurrection with Military Honors for Howard J. Premo, 90, of 6 Hillcrest, Massena, and Lakeland, Fla., will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Church of the Sacred Heart, Massena with Rev Donald J. Manfred presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Covington, N.Y.
Friends and family may be received on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
Mr. Premo died Monday (March 8, 2010) in Valencia Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center, Lakeland; Fla.
Howard is survived by his wife, Doris; son, Timothy of Dallas, Pa; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Carolyn) Williamson of Polk City, Fla.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a niece.
He was predeceased by a son, Gary, and a sister, Blanche Primeau.
He was born Dec. 20, 1919 in Malone, N.Y., the son of Francis and Mary (Santamo). He attended schools in Malone and Penn State College. He served in the National Guard and four years in the Army in World War II. He worked for Sealtest Ice Cream in Malone and Massena.
Howard married Doris McKirryher on April 23, 1946. Howard was past commander of AmVets Post No. 8 in Malone. During the winter months he and his wife spent their time in Polk City, Fla.
