Bruce L. Hilts

CHAUMONT — Bruce L. Hilts, age 52 of Witt Rd. Chaumont, died Monday morning at Samaritan Medical Center ER.

Bruce was born April 26, 1957 in Watertown, the son of Arthur and Blanche Swain Hilts Sr. He attended Lyme Central School.

Bruce married Bethany R. Downey on February 26, 1983 in Watertown. The couple has lived on the Witt Road all their married lives. Bruce worked at Fibermark Paper mill in Brownville where he was a papermaker and yardman.

Bruce was a member of Smith Savage Post Sons of American Legion in Dexter. He was an avid racing fan and enjoyed fishing at camp and hunting.

Bruce is survived by his wife Bethany, children; Jamie L. McCratic of Watertown, Amy Jo Hilts of Chaumont, Dan Hilts of Three Mile Bay, his father Arthur Hilts Sr. of Chaumont, grandchildren Keerah McCratic and Arianna Busto of Watertown and Brianna Barbrow of Bronx, N.Y. He is also survived by brothers and sisters; Arthur and Maryann Hilts Jr. of Chaumont, Mark Hilts of Chaumont, Mrs. Barry Sharon Chambers of Burrville, Linda Hilts Henderson of LaFargeville and Mrs. Christopher Robin Sayyeau of Chaumont and sister-in-law Maureen Hilts of Chaumont, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Rev. Mark Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. Donations are requested to Dexter Fire Dept.
