Clarkson ends preseason with twin bill defeat

AUBURNDALE, Fla. — Clarkson University finished the preseason Tuesday by dropping a doubleheader against Transylvania College.

First baseman Brett Peplowski led the Golden Knights (1-6) in game 1 with three hits as Clarkson fell 10-8.

In game 2, Transylvania scored five second inning runs to complete the sweep with an 8-3 win. Clarkson pitcher Kyle Herbstreit had three strikeouts in one inning for the Golden Knights, who begin the Liberty League season Tuesday with a doubleheader at Rensselaer.
