CARTHAGE — Dolores R. Pierce, 73, of 731 State St. died Wednesday morning, March 17, 2010 at her residence where she was under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Carthage on October 23, 1936, the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence Johnson Peluso. She was a 1953 graduate of Augustinian Academy and graduated from the Delehanty Institute of New York, N.Y. She married Neil R. Pierce on July 30, 1960 in Lowville. She worked as a legal secretary for various area lawyers. She was employed by the New Jersey State Education Dept. as a secretary to the superintendent. She also worked in the art department of E.C. Crooks Memorials and prior to moving to Texas in 1987 with her husband, was the parish secretary for St. James Parish in Carthage.
She is survived by her husband, Neil R. of Carthage, one daughter: Tori Pierce of Carthage, four sons: Gregory Pierce of Leesburg, VA, Paul Pierce of West Carthage, Mark Pierce of Ocala, FL and Neil Pierce of Rochester, 13 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren and a sister: Joann Trapasso of Syracuse.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. George F. Maroun, Pastor officiating. A calling hour will be held Friday from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the Church. Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home.
