PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) — A woman who was struck by a sport utility vehicle while walking to her food service job at a suburban Rochester college has died from her injuries.

Officials at St. John Fisher College say 38-year-old Michelle Gartland of Pittsford died at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Department say Gartland was crossing Route 31F around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday when she was hit by an SUV. Deputies say it was dark at the time and the driver didn't see Gartland. The driver hasn't been charged.

Gartland was employed by the company that provides food services at St. John Fisher, a private Catholic college located just southeast of Rochester.
