DEXTER — Philip W. Boyanski, age 84 of Dexter, passed on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County after a long illness.

Born February 27, 1926 in Dexter at his family homestead, he was the son of William and Mary Lubyiak Boyanski.

He attended the Dexter Game Farm Elementary and Dexter High School. He joined the Army in May 1944 and was honorably discharged June 1946. During World War 11 he served in the Central Europe and Rhineland Battles in the 3rd Army under General Patton. He received two battle stars plus several medals.

On August 18, 1951, he was united in marriage to Anna Lucycki at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Deferiet, N.Y.

He worked at Dexter Sulphite for 8 years then Knowlton Brothers of Watertown as a millwright for 37 1/2 years.

He was a member of the Watertown VFW Post 1400, Watertown Knights of Columbus 259, Dexter American Legion Smith- Savage Post #583, Town of Brownville Lions Club, Dexter Historical Society and the Booster Club for the Watertown Indians.

He was an avid member and volunteer for the Roman Catholic Community of Brownville and Dexter serving as an altar boy and lecturer at the former St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Dexter and member of Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville.

He enjoyed spectator sports including baseball and football and the former Watertown Pirates and Watertown Indians baseball games. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work, spending time with his family at home and on vacation trips throughout New York State, Canada, U.S. Eastern Coast and Europe. He was an avid mall walker since his retirement from Knowlton Bros.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Mary Jo Boyanski, Kathleen Boyanski and one son Thomas Boyanski, all of Dexter and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers Peter, John and Michael Boyanski and sisters Ann Croyle and Virginia Goodnough and twin siblings at birth.

Friends may call at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday March 21st from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 22nd at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville with Fr. Kevin O'Brien officiating. Following mass, burial will be at Dexter Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville or Hospice of Jefferson County.
