PHILADELPHIA — A very special lady, Vivian V. Myers, 89, Antwerp Street went to heaven on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at University Hospital in Syracuse to rest with the Lord.
Born June 20, 1920 in Philadelphia, NY, she was the daughter of Victor and Eva Arnold Delles. She graduated from Philadelphia High School in 1938.
She married Donald D. Myers on July 4, 1939 at the Philadelphia United Methodist Church, Philadelphia with Rev. Donald M. Cobb officiating. They were married for 58 years and she lived in the Philadelphia area her entire life. Mr. Myers died January 18, 1998.
Mrs. Myers worked as a waitress in various restaurants in the area, and at Indian River Central School in Philadelphia from 1958 to 1975.
She enjoyed spending weekends and vacations at her cottage on Point Peninsula, liked to sew, knit and make crafts and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Myers was a member of the Philadelphia United Methodist church, Philadelphia Rebekah Lodge and Ernest Rebekah Lodge in Antwerp.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne (Robert) Eggleston, Theresa; two sons, Wayne C. (Rose Ann), Oswego and Donald L. (Catherine), Mexico; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gerald Delles and Lloyd Delles, both of Philadelphia; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, 2 sisters, Dorothy Schneider and Edna Backus and 2 brothers, Victor Delles and Leonard Delles.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Philadelphia United Methodist Church with Rev. Penni Farrington officiating. A reception will be held in the church's dining room following the service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa.
