The St. Lawrence Thunder Bantam boys hockey team has qualified for national competition after winning the Tier II State Championships on March 13 in Long Island.
The Thunder went 5-0 in the tournament, including a 6-1 victory over host Freeport in the championship game.
The USA Hockey National Championships are scheduled for April 7-11 in Wayne, N.J. and 44 teams will participate. St. Lawrence is set to play Eastern Pennsylvania, Colorado and Wisconsin in a pool play round. The team earning the most points will advance to the quarterfinals.
The Thunder is hosted by the Massena Minor Hockey Association and is the first team to represent the north country in nationals in over a decade.
