A Fort Drum soldier was killed by a rocket-propelled grenade Thursday while he was serving on guard tower duty in Iraq.

Spc. Robert Rieckhoff, 26, joined the Army Reserve in 2002 after graduating from high school and later was assigned to Fort Drum, according to a report Saturday on the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel's Web site.

The U.S. Department of Defense has not released any further information about Mr. Rieckhoff or the circumstances surrounding his death.
