Districts holding can drive for transportation group

Transportation departments at many school districts in Jefferson and Lewis counties will be conducting can and bottle drives this week.

The drive — to be conducted Monday through Friday — will benefit the New York Association for Pupil Transportation, of which the local departments are members.

"NYAPT is struggling financially, and the Jeff-Lewis chapter has organized this event to help out," states a release from the area chapter.

Those who wish to contribute are asked to contact their respective school transportation departments to confirm that they are participating.
