CANTON — A Gloversville man is accused of having cocaine and marijuana while in the parking lot of St. Lawrence University's Brewer Bookstore.

Scott M. Labreche, 22, was charged Thursday with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and resisting arrest, village police said.

Police said they responded about 11 p.m. Thursday to a report of suspicious activity in the parking lot on Maple Street. They allegedly found Mr. Labreche possessing an ounce of cocaine and four ounces of marijuana, with a combined street value of around $3,500.

Police said as they attempted to handcuff Mr. Labreche, he resisted and tried to flee.

He was arraigned in Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.

The St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force assisted in the investigation.
