Mary C. Belair

MASSENA — A Mass of Resurrection for Mary C. Belair, 94, of 438 Leslie Road Massena, NY who passed away on March 19, 2010 after a long hospitalization, will be held at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Massena at Noon on Monday, March 22, 2010. Visitation will be at Phillips Memorial Home, Massena starting at 11:00am until the times of the services.

Mrs. Belair is survived by her children, Gil J. Belair and wife Judith, Massena, NY; Paula Belair Woehr and husband Dr. James Woehr, So. Riding, VA; Sueanne Silver Myers and husband Scott, Raleigh, NC and Phillip J. Belair and wife Victoria, Saratoga Springs, NY. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, dear friends Dr. Maureen Daye and family and Sister Mary Stephen, OSM of Massena. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years in 1967, Wallace J. Belair, her parents, James and Minnie Ashley, brothers Harold and Lloyd Ashley, and grandson Eric Silver in 2001.

Mrs. Belair born July 2, 1915. She was an avid gardener and well known for many years for the beautiful gardens at her home on Nightengale Ave. She was also instrumental in establishing the Meals on Wheels program in Massena and was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Parish.

The family would like to thank the staff of Massena Memorial Hospital for their kindness, skill, and compassion during Mrs. Belair's lengthy stay; the Doctors Cichetti for their excellent care; Hospice for providing dignity and compassion in her final days as well as the many personal aides who helped her in her daily living over the last 5 years. Her positive outlook, sense of humor and genuine caring will be missed by many.
