Last night, Jefferson County legislators asked whether local dairy farms had received checks from the New York Power Authority as part of its North Country Power Discount Program.

The question was partly because of legislators' ire about NYPA saying they won't buy the power from Galloo Island Wind Farm.

Like dairy farms in St. Lawrence County, many Jefferson County dairy farms are charged on a residential rate and haven’t yet received the checks. But as Martha Ellen recently reported, the checks are in the mail.
