Police say city man kicked

officer during his arrest

A city police officer was kicked in the stomach early Monday while he was arresting a man involved in a domestic fight, according to Watertown police.

Joshua M. Clemons, 28, who is listed at two addresses, 515 Emerson St. and 1032 Bronson St., was arrested shortly after 1 a.m. on charges of third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and harassment. He was released on $250 bail following arraignment before part-time City Judge Eugene R. Renzi.

Police said the domestic fight involving Mr. Clemons and Tammy R. Evans, 31, occurred at 515 Emerson St., where she also is listed as a resident.

Officer Brandon J. Chirico was attempting to handcuff Mr. Clemons when he was kicked, police said. With one cuff on his wrist, Mr. Clemons then swung his arm and the loose end of the handcuffs at another officer, police said.

rolls over on Interstate 81

A couple from Nepean, Ontario, remained hospitalized Monday as a result of their accident Sunday night on Interstate 81 in the town of Orleans, and their seven children were picked up in Watertown by relatives, according to hospital sources.

Shaindel Simes, 37, lost control of the family's northbound minivan while she tried to avoid a deer, state police said. The vehicle rolled over several times in the median.

Her husband, Yehuna P. Simes, 39, suffered head, neck and chest injuries and was flown by helicopter to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, where he was listed in fair condition Monday.

Mrs. Simes, with neck and back injuries, and the children, ages 2 to 15, including Asna, a 15-year-old girl with a head cut, were taken to Samaritan Medical Center. Mrs. Simes was transferred to Upstate, where she was said Monday afternoon to be in the emergency room.

No summonses were issued.

Four accused of serving

minors at Alex Bay bars

ALEXANDRIA BAY — Village police checked some taverns early Saturday to observe compliance with the state's alcoholic beverage control laws and alleged finding violations at four establishments.

Charged early Saturday with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage are:

■ Eugene F. Sikora, 51, of 83 Church St., at the Dancing Dog Bar, where he was bartending.

■ Norelle F. Rufa, 46, of 14 High St., at Dockside Pub, where she was a waitress.

■ Kathren A. Shost, 20, of 1620 Huntington St., Watertown, at Muski Lounge Bar, where she was bartending.

■ Meghan L. Nuffer, 24, of 41397 Kehoe Drive, Clayton, at Pirates Pub, where she was bartending.

Man accused of violating

woman's protection order

Scott E. Miner, 29, of 132 William St., Apt. A, was being held Monday without bail in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building after being charged by Watertown police with felony criminal contempt and harassment.

He was arraigned before part-time City Judge Eugene R. Renzi on allegations that on Saturday night he violated a Family Court order of protection when he punched Krystal M. Dalling, 24, same address, several times, according to police.

Mr. Miner was convicted of second-degree criminal contempt in City Court following an incident involving Ms. Dalling in December.

Deputies say minors stole

beer cooler, drank some

CROGHAN — Two underage men stole a cooler filled with beer from a residence in the town of Croghan early Monday, and were found after they consumed some of the drinks, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Department.

Andrew N. Nickles, 19, of 8621 Artz Road, Castorland, and Ryan M. Noftsier, 16, of 8306 Route 812, Lowville, both are charged with petit larceny and underage possession of an alcoholic beverage, and are ordered to appear in town of Croghan Court.

Ogdensburg man charged

with harassing woman

LISBON — An Ogdensburg man reportedly pushed a woman and ripped her purse Saturday in front of two children.

Louis R. Laflair, 32, of 9190 Route 37, was charged with two counts of child endangerment and single counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said. He was arraigned in Canton Town Court and released under probation supervision.

Police say man damaged

computer during fight

Gary F. Podvin, 39, of 22146 Riverbend Drive W., was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief early Monday afternoon after he was involved in a fight in the 1300 block of State Street, according to Watertown police.

Police said he is accused of kicking a table on which a computer had been placed, and the computer was damaged. He is ordered to appear in City Court at a later date.

Police say Madrid pair

stole bathroom fixtures

NORFOLK — Two Madrid residents were accused of stealing bathroom fixtures from a Route 420 home on June 11.

Tiffany L. LaRock, 31, and Anthony T. LaRock, 35, both of 250 Brady Road, were both charged Friday with petit larceny, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said. Both were issued appearance tickets for Town Court.
