Jay Nash plans to wrap up production on his new album in August for release this fall.

The bulk of the album was recorded in Los Angeles, where Mr. Nash's "The Things You Think You Need" as well as some of the album "All the Stars in Copenhagen" were recorded.

"Once again, we recorded the old-fashioned way, as a live band, using analog tape," Mr. Nash said.

The musicians on his new album have worked with such artists as Tears for Fears, Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan and Ricki Lee Jones. The album also features Rob Wasserman, one of the most acclaimed bass players in the world.

"I think, as a whole, this batch of songs is the most 'full of hope' of any record that I've made," Mr. Nash said. "But, to me, it's still feeling like a pretty heavy record."

Mr. Nash said the album has a lot of "textures" he's never used before.

"We made a concerted effort to avoid leaning on the acoustic guitar as much as I have on past records," he said.
