DEKALB JUNCTION — The academic leaders for the class of 2010 at Hermon-DeKalb Central School are Cody E. Cleveland, valedictorian, and Catherine C. Perry, salutatorian.

Mr. Cleveland, son of Clarence and Kelly Cleveland, Hermon, has an academic average of 95.87. He is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council executive board and Whiz Quiz. He has earned the Clarkson University Leadership Award, New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence, Rensselaer Medal, Robert C. Byrd Scholarship, University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Scholarship and the Rochester Institute of Technology Award for Creativity and Innovation. He played baseball, was captain of the soccer and wrestling teams and earned Academic All-Northern recognition in each sport. As a wrestler, he competed in the state wrestling championship.

Mr. Cleveland will attend Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., where he will major in biomedical sciences. He hopes to become a surgeon.

Miss Perry, daughter of Michael and Lisa Perry, DeKalb Junction, has an academic average of 95.40. She is a member of National Honor Society, Drama Club, Whiz Quiz, Junior Engineering Technical Society, school plays and is editor of the yearbook. She played varsity soccer and earned recognition as an Academic All-Northern for three years. She has received the Clarkson University Achievement Award, Outstanding Band Achievement Award, RIT Award for Creativity and Innovation and is an Augsbury/North Country Scholar nominee.

Miss Perry plans to attend Le Moyne College, Syracuse, in the fall. She plans to pursue a career in dentistry or as a physician's assistant.
