Top scholarship winners at Indian River Central

Graduating seniors at Indian River Central School, Philadelphia, received awards and scholarships at the Senior Awards Night ceremony June 3. More than $40,000 in scholarships were awarded.

Sarah Adams, daughter of Mark and Tamara Adams, Evans Mills, was awarded the Potsdam Freshman, Northern New York Community Foundation, New York State Retired Teachers, Chapin Dougherty, Evans Mills Parent-Teacher Organization, Intermediate School Parent-Teacher Organization, Indian River Teachers Association and William Heck Memorial scholarships and was named a Frontier League Scholar Athlete. Miss Adams plans to attend SUNY Potsdam and study elementary education.

Kyle DeCarr, son of William DeCarr, Hammond, and Michael and Judy Stoffel, Antwerp, was awarded the NNY Community Foundation, Antwerp Fire Department, Tom and Jean O'Driscoll Memorial, Jacob Pete Memorial, Grace Bilby Memorial Music and Mauraide Dudash scholarships and was named a Frontier League Scholar Athlete. Mr. DeCarr plans to attend SUNY Oswego, where he will major in music.

Christopher Durgan, son of Perry Durgan and Ruth Jones, Theresa, was awarded the Philadelphia Masonic Lodge, Theresa Rotaryp, Indian River Lions Club, Calcium Parent-Teacher Organization, Intermediate School Parent-Teacher Organization and Middle School Parent-Teacher Organization scholarships, and the Watertown Chamber of Commerce Vocational, Vocational Outstanding Achievement and the Vocational Professionalism awards. Mr. Durgan plans to attend SUNY Potsdam, where he will major in computer science.

Kyle Durgin, son of Joseph and Marlene Durgin, Philadelphia, was awarded the Oswego College Merit Award, Antwerp American Legion Boys State, Philadelphia American Legion, Philadelphia Masonic Lodge, Philadelphia Primary Teachers and Robbie Horton Memorial scholarships and was named a Frontier League Scholar Athlete. Mr. Durgin plans to attend SUNY Oswego, where he will major in psychology.

Karrie Farrell, daughter of John and Sharon Farrell, Philadelphia, was awarded the Philadelphia American Legion, Philadelphia Legion Auxiliary, Philadelphia Sons of the American Legion, Philadelphia Masonic Lodge, Indian River Lions Club, Middle School Parent-Teacher Organization, George Gleason Memorial, Mauraide Dudash and the CSEA Penny Langdon Memorial scholarships. Miss Farrell plans to attend Jefferson Community College, where she will study elementary education.

Zane Fish, son of John and Kelly Fish, Evans Mills, was awarded the Alan Feickert Memorial, Joshua Cavalet Memorial, Mauraide Dudash, Robbie Horton Memorial , Athletic Booster Club and Clint McKeever Memorial scholarships and was named a Frontier League Scholar Athlete. Mr. Fish plans to attend St. Lawrence University, Canton, where he will study economics.

Taylore Kelsey, daughter of Scott and Lori Kelsey, Theresa, was awarded the Jefferson Community College CAN, Theresa Rotary, Indian River Lion's Club, Theresa Parent-Teacher Organization, Intermediate School Teachers, High School Teachers Association, Jack and Jean Williams Memorial, Amy Gleason Memorial, Kelli Johnson Memorial, Betsy LaClair Memorial, Greg Wiley Memorial and Athletic Booster Club scholarships and was named a Frontier League Scholar Athlete. Miss Kelsey plans to attend Jefferson Community College, where she will study elementary education.

Jarrod Mattingly, son of Wayne and Connie Mattingly, Philadelphia, was awarded the Clarkson Grant, New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence, Clarkson Leadership, Philadelphia Masonic Lodge, Philadelphia Primary Teachers, Philadelphia Primary Parent-Teacher Organization, Jack and Jean Williams Memorial, Joshua Cavalet Memorial, Robbie Horton Memorial, Athletic Booster Club, Marty Dickson Memorial and United Soccer scholarships and was named a Frontier League Scholar Athlete. Mr. Mattingly plans to attend Clarkson University, Potsdam, where he will study biomolecular science.

Amanda Rozsavolgyi, daughter of Dean and Tunde Moffatt, Philadelphia, was awarded the St. Rose Presidential, Delta Kappa Gamma, Walmart, Philadelphia American Legion, Intermediate School Parent-Teacher Organization and Indian River Teachers Association scholarships and was named a Frontier League Athlete. Miss Rozsavolgyi plans to attend College of St. Rose, Albany, where she will study history education.

Madison Wilcox, daughter of Brian and Lori Wilcox, Theresa, received the St. Lawrence University Legacy Grant, New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence, St. Lawrence University Augsbury, Jefferson County Association of Educational Office Professionals, Dean Dudley Memorial, Betsy LaClair Memorial, Robbie Horton Memorial and Athletic Booster Club scholarships and was named a Frontier League Scholar Athlete and Josten's Outstanding Girl for the class of 2010. Miss Wilcox plans to attend St. Lawrence University, where she will study economics and finance.
