LAFARGEVILLE — Mass-produced or imported goods are not welcome at the Stone Mills museum's annual craft fair, which has been promoting high-quality workmanship for the past 41 years.
Starting Friday, about 225 vendors, some coming from as far as Colorado, will display handmade crafts — such as antler lamps, silverware, pottery, quilts, leather pouches, furniture, wood carvings and more — and sell homemade food to more than 10,000 visitors who visit LaFargeville for the three-day event every year.
The fair will be held at the museum, 30950 Route 180, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5 per adult and children 16 and under can attend for free.
"This is a juried craft show. It's for people who make their own products. The museum started this event in the late-60s to give crafters an opportunity to show their talent," said Marguerite C. Raineri, the director of the Northern New York Agricultural Historical Society Museum at Stone Mills.
The show is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the museum.
