Pair accused of stealing
backpack full of apples

NORFOLK — Two men were charged with petit larceny and trespassing after stealing a backpack full of apples from a yard, state police said.

Christopher L. Deshane, 33, of 75 W. Main St., and Roy A. McGregor, 41, of 3 Sober St., allegedly stole the apples from 46 W. High St. at 8:10 a.m. Sunday. Police said they found the pair at Mr. Deshane's home by following a trail of apples that fell out of a hole in the backpack as the two men left the yard. Mr. Deshane then turned over the backpack, which still held about 60 apples, saying he stole them because he was "heavily intoxicated and his wife wanted to make a pie," troopers said.

Lisbon man faces charge
of driving while impaired

CANTON — Patrick F. Whitehill, 21, Lisbon, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs at 1:55 a.m. Sunday at County Route 25 and County Route 21.

Two teens face charges
of larceny, conspiracy

WADDINGTON — State police have charged two teenage boys with one count each of petit larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy.

Curtis P. Debien, 16, Waddington, was arrested at 9:36 p.m. Tuesday at 7 Mary Manor Drive and Stephen P. Curran, 16, of Madrid was arrested at 1:25 p.m. Friday at 29 Stearns St., Massena.

No further information was available and the investigation is ongoing, troopers said.

Men are charged with sale
of a controlled substance

PARISHVILLE — Christopher N. Dihrberg, 19, of Potsdam, was charged at 8:45 a.m. Friday with felony fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance at 58 West Parishville Road, according to state police. Mark A. Green, 17, Parishville was arrested on the same charges at 9:31 a.m. Saturday at 100 Allen Falls Road. The charges stem from an incident that occured at 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, police said.

Brasher Falls man accused
of violating a court order

WEST STOCKHOLM — A Brasher Falls man is accused of breaking a decorative tree belonging to his estranged wife and violating a protection order Aug. 13.

Kevin T. Barton, 30, of 372 Hurley Road, was charged Thursday with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal contempt, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said. The tree, which had several lights broken on it, was owned by Wendy A. Barton.

He was arraigned in Stockholm Town Court and released on his own recognizance.

Man accused of driving
while impaired by drugs

FOWLER — Samuel L. Richards, 36, of Ogdensburg, was charged by state police with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs at 4:50 p.m. Friday on Route 58.
