ALEXANDRIA BAY — Village police say they are holding a warrant charging second-degree assault in connection with the beating of a man on a street during Bill Johnston's Pirate Days.
Police did not identify their suspect, who is believed to be trying to avoid arrest in Rochester or Buffalo.
The victim was Edward Zeilnhoser, Watertown, who was treated at River Hospital for a head injury. Chief Brian K. Mullaney said that Mr. Zeilnhoser may have been transferred to another hospital, but that he is no longer hospitalized.
Mr. Zeilnhoser had a seizure early Aug. 7 at the fight scene, James and Market streets, and his injuries later were determined not to be as serious as initially feared, Chief Mullaney said.
Another arrest is anticipated in an unrelated, less serious assault that occurred the same weekend, he said.
