Rizer photo wins top award

A composite photograph of Watertown native and supermodel Maggie Rizer gliding over a skyline has won third place in the special effects category of the 2010 International Photography Awards.

The photograph, by Erik Almas, originally appeared in the March fashion issue of 7x7.

Jennifer Pollock, a contributor at the magazine, explained the winning shot this way:

"Erik shot the cityscape and Maggie Rizer separately and then retouched them both to create a seamless image. The whale and the aircraft, of course, were created in post production (though it would be pretty sweet if they were real)."
