John E. Eckert

LAFARGEVILLE — John Edward Eckert, age 95, of Chester, CT, and formerly of LaFargeville, NY, will be buried at the Grove Cemetery in LaFargeville at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 7, 2010.

Mr. Eckert passed away peacefully with his children at his side on April 15, 2010. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth, his sisters Ruth and Kate, and his brothers Frank and Bob. He is survived by his son William (Virginia) Eckert and daughter Nancy (Arthur) Weeks; grandchildren David (Amy) Eckert, Susan (Marc) Allen, Adair (Barry) Galster, and Julia Weeks; and great-grandchildren Noel and Jonah Eckert, Zachary and Melanie Allen, and Oren Galster.

Mr. Eckert was a graduate of Clarkson University and traveled the world as Chief Engineer for Armzen, and later Vice-President of Engineering for the Waterbury Farrel division of Textron. He was a good friend to many and will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his lifelong interest in travel and learning, and his love of playing cards, especially bridge. Memorials preferred to the Chester Village West Scholarship Foundation.
