PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Village police charged Karen M. McGill, 53, of 727 Hall Road, Lisbon, with petit larceny at 2:31 p.m. Monday following an alleged shoplifting incident at Walmart. She allegedly shoplifted candy, lotion, shaving cream and a DVD from the store.
UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Village police charged Robert T. Knapp, 19, of 50 Brighton St., Massena, with unlawful possession of marijuana at 3:15 p.m. Monday on East Hatfield Street.
PUBLIC LEWDNESS - MASSENA - Village police charged Justin VanDunk, 33, of 200 Main St., Massena, with public lewdness at 5:45 p.m. on Curtis Avenue. Police said they responded to a complaint. Vandunk was allegedly masturbating on the back porch at his girlfriend's residence.
BURGLARY - NORFOLK - Norfolk Town Police have charged Joshua J. Jones, 17, of 49 1/2 Maple St., Massena, with felony counts of grand larceny, burglary and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was also ticketed for leaving the scene of a property damage accident, speed not reasonable and prudent anmd failure to keep right.
According to court documents, Jones allegedly stole a 2004 Chrysler Sebring owned by Michael Gonyou between 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Aug. 27 from a residence on Park Avenue. The keys had allegedly been left in the vehicle. He reportedly totaled that vehicle when he crashed into a utility pole on County Route 38 in the town of Norfolk.
Norfolk Town Police said they were called to a motor vehicle accident on the Plum Brook Road. Jones allegedly struck a utility police and several small trees with the 2004, fled the scene and then stole the pickup truck.
They noted OnStar initially traced to the stolen truck to the Upper Ridge Road in the town of Brasher, but when state police arrived on the scene they discovered Jones was already in the village of Massena. He was taken into custody a short time later.
Jones is being held on holds from Massena Village Court and St. Lawrence County Court. He is scheduled to appear in Norfolk Town Court at a later date.
AGGRAVATED DWI - MASSENA - Norfolk Town Police charged Brent T. Scovil, 24, of 351 East Orvis St., Massena, with aggravated driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop Friday night on state Route 56. Police said they initially observed Scovil traveling 58 mph in a 30 mph zone on Sober Street. They said as they were attempting to catch up with his vehicle he was allegedly clocked travelling 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. Police said they pulled Scovil over after he reportedly nearly drove into the ditch near the Yaleville turn off, taking down some sapling trees. He was also reportedly observed with an open container of alcohol. Police said state police conducted a breathalyzer trest, and Scovil allegedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.27 percent. Norfolk Town Police said Scovil told them he was driving from Massena to his brother's home in Norwood following an altercation with his girlfriend at his residence. They said he indicated she had given him a black eye during that argument.
UNLICENSED OPERATION - MALONE - Malone-based state police charged Todd A. Kirkey, 32, of 25 Howard St., Massena, with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following an accident Friday on state Route 11 in the town of Malone. Troopers said Kirkey was eastbound on a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle when he attempted to change lanes as an uninvolved vehicle stopped inb front of him to make a left turn. Kirkey allegedly failed to see the vehicle in the outer eastbound lane being operated by Austin T. Seymour, 29, of Malone. The motorcycle struck the driver's side of Seymour's vehicle. Kirkey complained of leg pain.
PEDESTRIAN STRUCK - DICKINSON - A Norfolk man reportedly suffered a broken arm Friday after being struck by a vehicle. Malone-based state police said Clarence L. Soulia, 61, of Constable was backing up on the Niles Road in the town of Dickinson and failed to observe Howard J. Malone, 34, of 431 Grantville Road, Norfolk, enter the roadway from the west shoulder. Troopers said Soulia was backing up to allow an uninvolved tractor trailer back into a driveway
CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE - MASSENA - Village police charged Ryan A. Vanbuskirk, 16, of 73 Bishop Ave., Massena, with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance and petit larceny at 9:40 p.m. Sunday. He alllegedly took six to eight Valium tablets from a family member.
SEXUAL ABUSE - MASSENA - Village police charged Jesse A. Mashaw, 19, of 20 Parker Ave., No. 2, Massena, with three counts of third-degree sexual abuse and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child at 5:30 p.m. Saturday after he allegedly had sexual contact with a 14-year-old female. Mashaw will answer the charges Sept. 21 in village court.
ASSAULT - MASSENA - Village police charged Kimberly A. St. Louis, 29, of 10 Dana St., Massena, with third-degree assault, inadequate brakes and moving from lane unsafely at 12:20 p.m. Saturday. Police said the charges were the result of an Aug. 13 accident when her vehicle rolled over onto the railroad tracks on South Main Street.
UNINSPECTED VEHICLE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Vaughn P. Cole, 26, of Massena for an uninspected motor vehicle and unlicensed operation at 12:52 a.m. Sunday on Bowers and East Orvis streets.
SPEED IN ZONE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Kolson L. Schlosser, 34, of Potsdam for speed in zone at 8:50 p.m. Saturday on state Route 37.
DRIVING ON SHOULDER - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Theresa B. Brothers, 76, of Massena for driving on the shoulder at 8:15 p.m. Saturday on Liberty Avenue.
UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - HELENA - Massena-based state police charged On Michael G. Prior III, 17, of 872 Route 11C, Winthrop, with unlawful possession of marihuana. Prior was found to possess less than 25 grams of maihuana by state troopers while they were conducting an investigation.
UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - WINTHROP - Massena-based state police charged Ronald N. Villnave, 53, of 175 Burke-Delosh Road, North Lawrence, with unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop Friday on state Route 420 in the town of Stockholm.
