SU's Nassib, Holmes gain Big East weekly honor

SYRACUSE — Syracuse University quarterback Ryan Nassib and cornerback Mike Holmes were named Big East Conference Offense and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, after Saturday's victory over Akron.

Nassib completed 17 of 27 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start for SU. He also gained 58 yards on nine carries.

Holmes led the defense with six tackles, including one sack. He recovered a blocked field goal and went 57 yards for the touchdown.
