The 26th annual Bravo Italiano Festival Friday and Saturday will be presented in the memory of attorney Jack C. Scordo, a Watertown lawyer who died in May at the age of 83 and who practiced law in the city for more than 50 years.
Mr. Scordo was a past president of the Italian-American Civic Association, which puts on the annual festival.
Mr. Scordo was an advocate for several community programs, was interested in the arts and was a supporter of Watertown athletics. He was a member of Sons of Italy and the Italian American Heritage Association of Albany.
The festival, held at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds Arena, Coffeen Street, runs from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday.
Here is the schedule:
FRIDAY
Opening ceremony, hosted by festival co-chairmen Thomas Bruno and Edward Mentry.
6:15 p.m. Singer Steve Fazzini will perform songs by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and others.
7:30 p.m.: The Miss Italia Pageant begins.
9 to 10 p.m.: Mr. Fazzini will perform another show.
10:15 p.m.: The drawing for $300 in cash will take place. Ticket buyers must be present to win the cash.
SATURDAY
Noon: After the doors open at noon, members of the 2009 members of the Watertown Red & Black, the 2009 Empire State Football League champions, will sign autographs and pose for photos.
1 to 3 p.m.: Students from Watertown's In Motion School of Dance will perform.
3:30 to 5 p.m.: Singer Franco Gallelli will perform.
5 p.m.: A "9-11 musical memorial tribute." The ceremony will include the Fort Drum Color Guard.
5:30 p.m.: A Roman Catholic Mass performed by The Rev. Donald Robinson, pastor of St. Anthony's Church.
7:30 p.m.: Local country singer Timothy ("T.J.") performs at 7:30 p.m.
8:30 p.m.: Mr. Fazzini performs again.
Throughout the festival: As usual, loads of homemade Italian food will be available.
