Sandstoners earn draw in 2nd half with Flyers

POTSDAM — Scott Bartenstein converted on a pass from Pete McAdoo in the 76th minute to help the Potsdam boys soccer team salvage a 1-1 tie with Norwood-Norfolk in a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division game Tuesday.

The Flyers (1-1-1 overall, 0-0-1 division) took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute with a goal from Alex Ploof. Potsdam fell to 0-1-2 and 0-0-1.

OFA 8, GOUVERNEUR 2

Grant Prudhomme scored two goals and added three assists to lead the Blue Devils (3-0, 1-0) past Gouverneur in a Central Division game in Ogdensburg.

Paul LaPlante added two goals for OFA. Andy Rickett, Jarret Piercey, Kyle Manke and Brent Lalonde also scored for OFA.

Jase Briggs and Bryan Farley scored for Gouverneur (0-3, 0-1).

MASSENA 1, CANTON 1 (OT)

Shawn Spadaccini scored in the 71st minute to give Canton (0-2-1, 0-0-1) a tie with the Red Raiders in a Central Division game in Massena.

William Lint scored in the 48th minute for Massena (0-0-1).

Mike McDonnell scored twice to lead the Golden Knights past Hermon-DeKalb (0-1) in a West Division game in Lisbon.

Scott Lawton, Adam Felt and Kyle Binion also scored for Lisbon (2-0-1, 1-0). Jim Robinson made four saves for the shutout.

EDWARDS-KNOX 5, HAMMOND 0

Jon Davison scored three goals to pace the Cougars past Hammond (0-3, 0-1) in a West Division game in Russell.

Jessie Bullock and Neils Wagener also scored for the Cougars (1-0). Caden Dandrow made five saves for the shutout.

David Putman scored two goals and Jon Sloan added one goal and one assist as Heuvelton defeated the Green Rockets (1-2, 0-1) in a West Division game in Morristown.

Joey Butts tallied two goals for the Pirates in a win over Clifton-Fine (0-1) in a West Division game in Harrisville. Dakota Smith scored the other goal for Harrisville (1-0) and Wayne Best made two saves for the shutout.

Ryan Paige stopped eight shots while four different players scored for the Comets in a crossover win against the Spartans in Adams.

Jeremy Kaufman, Matt Gallagher, Jordan Abass and Conner Biolsi had a goal each for Carthage (1-0).

Nick Barker and Matt Bero scored in the second half for South Jefferson (0-1).

Emilie Ross scored one goal and assisted on another, both in the second half, as the Bulldogs blanked Morristown (0-1) in a West Division game in Heuvelton.

Elizabeth Dempsey won the 50-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly to lead Potsdam in the Northern Athletic Conference opener for each team in Gouverneur.

Emily Smith won the 50 and 100 freestyles to lead the Huskies past Salmon River in the opening meet for both squads. Sierra Delormier led the Shamrocks with wins in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
