Keeping America free of socialism

As we face a contested and possibly heated election this November, I find myself a little distressed in wanting to delight and rejoice in the downfall (voting out) of politicians who seem to not be able to hear "we the people." I will identify that I am believer in Jesus Christ and a lover of the freedom that comes with faith. I am also a citizen of these United States, having been born here as the fourth generation of immigrant sojourners through Ellis Island from Norway and Sweden around the turn of the 20th century.

How blessed I am to have grown up with a love of this new country yet with a taste of the old country celebrated within our family gatherings. It never occurred to us to make the rest of society adhere to our old ways. And because we were adopting this nation as our own, we took on the life, the language and the patriotism of those around us.

Indeed, we were adding to our family's design by incorporating the opportunity and lifestyle of this rich land. Now it might seem strange to some, but this Scandinavian's grandmother married a one-quarter Mohawk Indian. How's that for integration?

It would appear that many are set against this nation by the way they are disregarding the will of the people. This is done also by trying to make the common man feel inferior, uneducated and racist. All because we have a love for fellow patriots, our country and common sense. In other words, we love America, its citizens and its Constitution.

Due to the battle that seems to be taking place for the restoration of faith and virtue, exceptionalism and common sense, loyalty and integrity, many are rising to stand together to try as they may to free America from the creeping slavery of socialism and elitism that has replaced the unique individualism of each man and woman.

In doing so, we are committed to bringing down the opposition through our very system of voting, and that's what causes me to remember the words in Proverbs 24:17-18: "Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth. Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him." Rather we should rejoice that "truth, justice and the American way" are being returned by all us Clark Kents, Lois Lanes and Jimmy Olsens.
