City's tax scofflaws on par with previous years

So roughly how many city residents are late paying their city tax bill, which was due Aug. 5? The city comptroller’s office says it’s a fairly average year:

2010-11: $423,626 outstanding; $7,487,431 city tax levy; 5.66 percent of levy outstanding

2009-10: $412,426 outstanding; $7,343,895 city tax levy; 5.62 percent of levy outstanding

2008-09: $393,143 outstanding; $7,117,771 city tax levy; 5.52 percent of levy outstanding

2007-08: $377,010 outstanding; $6,909,739 city tax levy; 5.46 percent of levy outstanding

2006-07: $489,362 outstanding; $8,231,883 city tax levy; 5.94 percent of levy outstanding

The statistics were compiled Aug. 27 and the tax levy column does not include the balance of outstanding water and sewer bills.
