Third period notes:
GOAL CARLETON - Brett Halstead.
Saints are slowing down a bit just letting time tick away. Relatively quiet offensive performances from the freshmen, but lots of big hits and a real physical bunch. Heading down for interviews soon.
The SLU penalty kill
GOAL SLU Jordan Dewey slides one in through the legs. 5:26
Justin Baker and Jeremy Wick are beasts. End of story. These guys are laying out players left and right without penalties.
Weninger makes two great saves during the PP. Excellent goaltending tonight. I would imagine Prier is thrilled.
Wick gets his first penalty of the game after shoving a Carleton playing into the goalie.
Joe Spadaccini is out at goal. Matt Weninger is in.

Second period impressions:
The Saints continue to show a lot of energy offensively, while the Ravens look tired and sluggish. Two more goals from the Saints in two very different ways.
Sean Flanagan deflected in a shot from Sean Coffey for the Saints' third goal of the game.
The fourth goal was an impressive pea shot in by Matt Dyer. Lots of traffic in front of Carleton's goalie, but Dyer found a hole and the back of the net.
I expected St. Lawrence's offense to be highly productive with many games of four goals or more. What I didn't expect was the St. Lawrence defense seeming to be pretty good, too. It isn't, however, scoring like last year's.
Jeremy Wick is a force on the ice right now AND he's staying out of the box. He has been the most impressive of the freshmen, in my opinion. Bollig who?
Second period notes:
Another SLU penalty. Riley Austin to the box for tripping. 5-on-3 for 25 seconds.
SLU penalty. Drewiske to the box for holding.
Saints starting to show they're the better conditioned team as we near the end of the second period. Carleton is dragging.
GOAL SLU - Matt Dyer snipes one in from the point.
I can't say enough how energetic and fast the Saints appear to be on the ice. Everywhere the puck goes at least three Saints swarm it. They're also very active in the offensive zone. Even though they're up 3-0, they're playing like they're down.
The Canadians really want to get a brawl going. They're constantly throwing elbows and chipping with the sticks.
Goal SLU Sean Flanagan deflecting a shot by Sean Coffey from the point. 6:41
Saints appear to have more of a focus on the defense in this period. They're taking their time when they get a takeaway instead of just flailing at the puck. The big hits also continue.
A nice defensive play by Bobby Torney prevents a breakaway.
Saints kill the penalty nicely. No real threats.
Armstrong heads to the box just 18 seconds into the period. 4-on-3 PP for Carleton.
Spadaccini will stay in goal for St. Lawrence. Eight tough saves in the first period.
First period impressions:
St. Lawrence appears to be a clean, physical team. I emphasize clean. The Saints did pick up a few penalties in the first period, but most were matching penalties with Carleton shoving and the Saints not backing down. The second period should be interesting.
Rick Carden scored a great goal from behind the net after Carleton goalie Matt Dopud left the crease to chase a puck. Carden picked it up and scored before Dopud could recover.
Mobley's goal trickled in (video below) on Matt Dyer's shot from the blue line. Mobley tipped it in off the rebound. Drewiske was also credited with an assist.
Defensively the Saints are letting Carleton get into the slot too often and aren't getting pucks out of the zone effectively. That said, the forwards are deep and continually pound Carleton's goalie. Very good things on the ice from St. Lawrence in the first period.
First period notes:
GOAL SLU Beautiful wrap-around goal from behind by Rick Carden.
Double penalties makes it 4-on-4 into the second period. Carleton continues to want to fight. Saints doing a good job not biting.
This certainly doesn't feel like it's an exhibition. Both teams are really into it. Good to see and the Saints continue to look tough.
Jeremy Wick continues to lay out Carleton players. He is all over the ice. Spadaccini is impressive in net in. He already has seven tough saves.
Spadaccini STUFFS a breakaway. Excellent job from a kid who sat the bench for two years. He's fighting for a starting role with Robby Moss this year.
The new icing rule is in effect this game. It won't be for the season. Short handed teams can't ice.
Pitsikoulis goes to the box just 15 seconds into the PP to offset the penalty.
Penalty on Carleton - Saints back on the PP.
Mobley shot squeezed five-hole on Carleton. Nice shot that found a hole. Saints look really energetic and, I'll say this quietly, good.
GOAL SLU Power play goal to Max Mobley. 9:00 minute mark.
Things chippy. Two Carleton players head to the box, while the Saints send one. Nick Pitsikoulis had his helmet pulled off and it looked like a punch was thrown by Carleton. Not a good start with this being just an exhibition. Calm down Canada, calm it down.
Power play Carleton. Dewey heads to the box for running in to goalie. - Check that goalie embelishment. 4-on-4.
I'm really impressed here early on with St. Lawrence's aggression. Good stuff.
Great save by Carleton goalie Matt Dopud on Rick Carden's one-timer.
here we go and the Saints D already looks a little overmatched but there's no shortage of big hits. Jeremy Wick especially all over the place.

The campus is abuzz with St. Lawrence's 24-21 football triumph over Hobart. The Saints scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to come from behind to win.
As for hockey, lots of interesting lineup news to report. For starters, Joe Marsh is not in attendance tonight. Associate head coach Bob Prier will be running the show. He has opted to sit many of veterans and get the rookies into the lineup.
Here's who is not playing tonight: Robby Moss (G), Kyle Flanagan (F), Aaron Bogosian (F), George Hughes (D), Sean Logue (F), Matt Raley (D), Bobby Torney (D), Mac Stratfod (D).
St. Lawrence lines:
Forwards: Jared Keller/Mark Armstrong/Jake Klancher, Nic Vangog/Kyle Essery/Jeremy Wick, Sean Flanagan/Rick Carden/Nick Pitsikoulis, Greg Carey/Jacob Drewiske/Max Mobley.
Defensive pairs: Pat Raley/Jordan Dewey, Riley Austin/Justin Baker, Bobby Torney/Matt Dyer
