Bankruptcy won't stop Gulfstream International Airlines from bidding on federally subsidized air service, a spokes-man for the Department of Transportation said Friday.
"Many carriers, including major airlines, have successfully operated through the bankruptcy reorganization process," said Bill Adams, the DOT spokesman.
Gulfstream International Group, Inc. announced Thursday that it would file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It will continue to operate its current flights. The company will also push forward with its bid for service out of Watertown, Massena and Ogdensburg, company officials said.
Gulfstream is a regional carrier for United Continental Holdings. It operates regional air service primarily in Florida and out of Cleveland.
