CLAYTON — A "sailing masterpiece" will be on display for nearly a week this summer at the Frink site on Riverside Drive.

The Lynx, a War of 1812 tall-ship replica with a 94-foot mainmast and a more than 1,200-square-foot mainsail, will sail into Clayton on June 14 and be on display until June 20, according to a news release.

The ship is an interpretation of a privateer named Lynx, built by Thomas Kemp in 1812 in Fell's Point, Md., that was one of the first ships to defend America by evading the British naval fleet that was blockading American ports and serving in the important privateering efforts.

The event is hosted by the Davidson Auto Group and Lake Ontario Realty to highlight both the St. Lawrence Seaway and Clayton.
