Potsdam (23-0) showed why it is ranked No. 1 in the state Class B poll Tuesday night, routing Section 2 champion Watervliet 63-33 in a first-round game at SUNY Potsdam's Maxcy Hall.
The Sandstoners got out to a 16-5 lead and built that to 38-16 by halftime and were never really challenged by Watervliet (18-5).
Zach Adams scored 24 points and John Coleman tossed in 19 for Potsdam, which will face Section 7 champion Northeastern Clinton in a quarterfinal contest at 1:45 p.m. Saturday at SUNY Plattsburgh.
