Good morning, indeed!
We should have a state budget by the April 1 deadline, great news for anybody whose birthday is April 2 and wants to go home to Boston to see his family and friends whom he misses very much (I happen to fall into that category).
Here's what else is up.
Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority
A little late for this, but the authority held a closed-door meeting at the very convenient time of 7:45 a.m. for a "personnel matter," which means that they want to hire a new chief financial officer but for some reason Wade Davis thinks it'll be the end of the world if we write about it as it happens. "The OBPA: An open gate to Canada, and a closed door to the press."
Ogdensburg
Tonight's 7 p.m. meeting will include a public hearing regarding a community block grant application.
The board is also expected to pass a resolution to hire Fiacco & Riley Construction, Inc. for the Beaver Brook Stormwater Improvements Project for a sum not to exceed $106,500.
Hammond (wind)
The town council will hold a special meeting Monday at 7 p.m. in the town office, 17 North Main St., to review recommendations from the wind advisory committee.
Alex Bay
The Alexandria Central School District is holding a budget workshop tonight (March 28) at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium to determine the fate of some of its sports programs.
Earlier this month, the district Board of Education discussed eliminating three junior varsity sports teams, combining two sports teams with another school district and possibly terminating its boys and girls junior varsity basketball teams.
Carthage schools
The Board of Education will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Carthage Middle School library. The board will meet behind closed doors in executive session at 6:30 p.m. to discuss a personnel matter. Open session is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. District officials will outline the proposed 2011-12 budget, which includes a 2 percent tax levy increase and no job cuts. The board will also see a presentation from an education planner about a proposed building project.
St. Lawrence County
St. Lawrence County Legislature’s Finance Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. in the courthouse in Canton to discuss future step pay increases for management and non-union employees and to discuss the future of the county bus system.
