Here's what's happening.

DANC

The Development Authority of the North Country at 11:30 a.m. will formally kick off the final phase of its fiber-optic ring around the north country outside the Lewis County Courthouse on North State Street, Lowville. Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh, is slated to attend.

Massena

Village board regular meeting., 5:30 p.m. A public hearing will take place on the village's often-debated residency requirement. The village Board of Trustees will then decide to either repeal or maintain the over 30-year-old requirement.

Mannsville

The village Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. tonight to continue budget talks. The board is expected to vote on the proposed budget.

Hounsfield

Tuesday April 19, 2011-The town of Hounsfield’s Planning Board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. tonight to discuss several subdivision applications, including Blue Heron Landing.

State politics

So I've canvassed my people, and it seems like there are going to be three issues coming up relatively soon: gay marriage, rent control and the death penalty.
