Beware: speculation.

Dollars to donuts, my friend, Matt Doheny is going to run for Congress again.

Mr. Doheny, a Republican businessman from Cape VincentAlexandria Bay, has been coy about it, saying he's gotta wait and see. (And redistricting could play some part in this.)

But the following exchange should cast aside any doubts that anyone would have that he's not going to run again.

At a campaign kickoff event for Watertown Mayor Jeff Graham, Mr. Graham impishly asked Mr. Doheny if the Congressional race was next year.

"Yep!" Mr. Doheny bellowed in a way that said to me — and it said it to the people in attendance, too — "Oh, yes, and I am totally gonna run!" (though I might be reading too much into things).

I wasn't the only one who came to that conclusion, though: After his "Yep!" response, a few people in the audience clapped.

(In an earlier version of this blog post, I said Mr. Doheny was from Cape Vincent. He's from Alex Bay. I apologize for the mix-up.)
