Fort Drum boosts security due to bin Laden's death

FORT DRUM — Because the post increased its security measures Sunday, commuters may see more such measures on post and might experience longer wait times at the gates.

People also might be asked to show identification while entering buildings.

"These are all specifically prescribed security measures," Fort Drum spokeswoman Julie A. Cupernall said.

The extra steps are not only in the north country; military installations worldwide are increasing security with the news of Osama bin Laden's death.
