Senate sources tell me that Travis Proulx, a spokesman for the Senate Democrats, will be moving to the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.
He'll be in the communications office.
Mr. Proulx is well known to north country politicos, having worked closely with Democrat Darrel Aubertine's campaign for Senate. I'm told that he's the one who came up with the "One of us" slogan that helped Mr. Aubertine win the Senate seat over Republican Assemblyman Will Barclay, which was the first Democratic foray into that district in, if my memory serves me, more than 100 years.
He's a Lewis County native, having graduated from the Beaver River school district, then going on to graduate from St. Lawrence University in Canton.
Mr. Proulx has his work cut out for him. Two New York Times investigations have shed light on reported abuses at homes for people with developmental disabilities, so the office is most certainly in flux, to put it lightly.
He starts there next week.
