Kelly Eustis is hoping to jump into the 23rd Congressional District race.

I've managed to piece together some biographical facts about Mr. Eustis, the Plattsburgh native and SUNY Potsdam graduate (or one-time student... not clear if he graduated) who will take on Rep. Bill Owens, a Democrat, and Republican Matt Doheny in what could shape up to be a three-way race.

He grew up in Argyle, according to his Facebook page.

He's 23 years old, and active in political causes — the executive director of a tea party-affiliated PAC, One Nation.

He's not a big fan of Sarah Palin, saying that she ripped off his One Nation moniker. (And here and here. This has led to some acrimony among warring tea party factions.

And how's this for interesting? Jude Seymour, who will begin as Mr. Doheny's flack in July, has actually interviewed Mr. Eustis when Mr. Seymour was in the seat I currently occupy.

Mr. Eustis' group, One Nation PAC, endorsed.... DOUG HOFFMAN in the 2009 special election.

So many connections.

His campaign already has a website, which is basically just a sign-up for an email list-serv. (I signed up.)

Meanwhile, the prospective candidate himself (who touts his political experience) has contacted POLITICO, a national publication, and the Glens Falls Post-Star, currently outside of the 23rd District, to announce his candidacy. My attempts to reach him have so far been unsuccessful.

UPDATE 2X:

I just got off the phone with Hank Ford, the St. Lawrence County Conservative Party chairman, to ask about Mr. Eustis, who will seek the Conservative Party line.

"I've never even heard of the guy," he said. "Right now, we don't even know if there's going to be a 23rd."

Ahh, redistricting. Fun fun!

I asked Mr. Ford whether the party has thrown its weight behind any particular candidate.

"Right now, we're non-commital at this particular time until we found out what is going on," he said, adding: "Matt's a very good friend of mine. I think he'd do an excellent job if he got in there. But where's he going to be?"

That last sentence, again, goes back to redistricting.

According to federal disclosure forms, Mr. Eustis' PAC gave $300 to Jane Corwin's failed congressional bid.

It took in a $1,000 donation from the National Republican Trust PAC. It has about $2,000 on hand as of the last filing.
