Thanks to the reader who brought this story to my attention.
Kelly Eustis, the possible third candidate for the north country's congressional seat, wanted to form a militia and bring guns on SUNY campuses for nighttime escorts and patrols, according to that story.
Mr. Eustis is never interviewed in the piece, but said it was a Second Amendment right.
School officials told him, in effect, No, it's not, we already have a full-time police force, it's not your Second Amendment right.
The guns-on-campus issue was a big one in Texas, as well, but it apparently never made it anywhere in the Empire State, because I haven't heard of this policy being changed.
Mr. Eustis, a conservative activist who has aided tea party groups, grew up in Argyle and attended SUNY Potsdam from 2005 to 2007, leaving before graduation to start a PR consulting firm.
