WASHINGTON The North Country Childrens Clinic in Watertown will receive a $64,805 federal grant to continue providing in-school health care, according to Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh.
The clinic is a nonprofit agency that provides primary health and dental care, nutrition services, and mental health counseling to infants, children and young adults in Northern New York.
The equipment provided through this grant will enhance our mission by improving the quality of health care delivered. The school-based health clinic program operates on a lean budget, and without this award there is currently no funding available, said Aileen G. Martin, the clinics executive director. Providers are currently sharing equipment and transporting bulky equipment more than 30 miles several times per week to accommodate patient needs.
