Clarkson University visiting scholar wins top Italian award for aerospace thesis

POTSDAM — Clarkson University visiting scholar Michele Pasquali recently received a top national Italian award for the best Master’s thesis in aerospace structures.

Mr. Pasquali was awarded the prestigious Liviu Librescu Award, established by Sapienza University of Rome in the memory of the late professor Liviu Librescu of Virginia Tech, for his thesis, “Geometrically Exact Models of Thin Plates Towards Nonlinear Dynamics System Identification Via Higher Order Spectral Approach.” The thesis is the result of the research carried out by Mr. Pasquali along with research co-advisors Piergiovanni Marzocca, Clarkson professor of mechanical and aeronautical engineering, and Walter Lacarbonara, Sapienza University professor of structural and geotechnical engineering.
