Politics on the Hudson is reporting that Democrat Dan Maffei will run for Congress in 2012.

Republican Ann Marie Buerkle defeated Mr. Maffei in 2010 for the Onondaga County seat, which he had held for one term.

Look for this race to take on some north country interest as New York redraws its political boundaries. In some imaginations, Watertown and Onondaga County will be in the same district.

Where does that leave Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh and Matt Doheny, a Watertown businessman who also wants the seat? Perhaps a primary battle royale.
