Republican congressional candidate Matt Doheny is teaching a course at Clarkson University on "Venture Capital and Private Equity" this fall, an advanced class for finance majors.

Venture capital and private equity, you say? What does that mean?

"The history of private equity and venture capital and the development of these asset classes has occurred through a series of boom and bust cycles since the middle of the 20th century. Within the broader private equity industry, two distinct sub-industries, leveraged buyouts and venture capital experienced growth along parallel, although interrelated tracks."

Ahem... Took the words right out of my mouth.

Mr. Doheny will teach the class with John Gaus, who is the president of and the chairman and CEO of ZeroPoint Clean Tech.

Mr. Doheny, who has a long career in finance that has been at times a political liability and handicap, taught a course at Jefferson Community College last semester. He's also been named to the board of a transportation holding company and started his own business, North Country Capital LLC.
