Fort Drum Mountain Community Homes and Lend Lease closed Tuesday on financing for the final houses to be built by the company on Fort Drum.
The $75 million project will focus on constructing four- and five-bedroom homes for junior soldiers, who historically have had the greatest difficulty in finding affordable and available housing off post, a news release said.
We are thrilled to be bringing more homes to the soldiers and families of the 10th Mountain Division, Lend Lease project director Joseph E. McLaughlin said in an email. We have worked very closely with local organizations to leverage this new phase in a way that benefits everyone in the local community, both on post and outside of the gate.
The project includes:
■ Construction of 22 three- and four-bedroom company grade officer homes in the most recently developed neighborhood of Monument Ridge.
■ Construction of 161 four- and five-bedroom homes on a new site in Crescent Woods for junior soldiers.
■ Conversion of 42 garden apartments to 21 five-bedroom town homes in the Adirondack Creek development.
■ Construction of four senior grade officer homes in the LeRay community.
■ Renovation of 66 homes exteriors.
■ Construction of office, maintenance and salt storage facilities.
The first homes are scheduled to be done in April; the project will be completed in 2013.
