Pro Hockey Notes (AHL)

Clarkson has five alumni playing in the American Hockey League as the 2011-12 season starts, and all five were members of Clarkson's 2007-08 squad, which won the ECAC Hockey regular season title and eventually reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals before falling 2-0 to Michigan.
Two of the AHL players are rookies: Mark Borowiecki (Binghamton) and Brandon DeFazio (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton). The other three were part of former coach George Roll's first full recruiting class: David Leggio (Rochester), Shawn Weller (St. John's) and Steve Zalewski (Albany).
DeFazio is making a reputation as a fighter as well as a scorer so far in the AHL. Here's a clip of a recent tussle he was in, followed by an interview he did for a college hockey website.

This week's final video features Leggio matching up against Buffalo's Nathan Gerbe after practice during training camp.

Mark Borowiecki (Binghamton) 5 games 0 goals-1 assist 1 point
Brandon DeFazio (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton) 5 1-0 1
David Leggio (Rochester) 1-1-0 3.00 goals-against average, .903 save percentage
Shawn Weller (St. John's) 4 0-0 0
Steve Zalewski (Albany) 5 1-0 1

NEXT WEEK: players in other north american pro leagues and europe.
