Time Warner is the poster child for corporate greed. The Times reported in the Nov. 3 issue, “Time Warner net income up 57 percent in third quarter.” That is the highest quarterly gain since 2007.

In the same issue of the paper, Time Warner announced a 6.2 percent increase for customers with standard cable service, well above inflation.

This increase will not affect customers with the promotional packages, another term for “new customers.” Just watch your TV ads. Old customers continue to subsidize the rates of new customers. They have a monopoly. Maybe all of the old customers should withhold payment for a month or two. How would that affect Time Warner’s bottom line?

Healthy capitalism made this country great. Competition was the force behind it. Corporate greed like Time Warner Inc. will ultimately lead to our nation’s downfall. Thank you, Time Warner Inc. and the rest of corporate America.
