ALEXANDRIA BAY — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials are urging travelers to provide proper forms of identification when crossing the U.S.-Canada border as Thanksgiving and the Christmas shopping season approach.

Travelers should anticipate periods of heavy traffic at the Wellesley Island crossing starting Wednesday and continuing throughout December.

Travelers are encouraged to obtain a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative-compliant document to expedite entry.
