Phyllis J. Covey

CARTHAGE — Phyllis Jean Covey, 82, of 222 State Street, died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Carthage Area Hospital where she had been a resident of the Skilled Nursing Unit since June 2010.

She was born on February 15, 1929 in Carthage to Oman and Beatrice Bulford Gardner.

She attended local schools. She married Robert L. Covey on September 7, 1947, Robert died on November 1, 1999.

She is survived by two children; David and his wife Penny Covey, Carthage; Daniel and his wife JoAnn Covey, Carthage, a daughter in law, Sue Covey; a sister Joan Caldwell, West Carthage; a brother Leonard and his wife Linda Gardner, Waterloo; and 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by a son, Donald O. Covey; a daughter, Jean Perkins, and a granddaughter, Amy Jo Covey, and a great- grandson, Joshua Steria.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc. located at 500 State Street Carthage, New York 13619. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 11:00am in the chapel of the Funeral Home with the Reverend Linda J. Harris, officiating, Pastor of the United Methodist Church in Carthage. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Carthage.
