Fort Drum sergeant to receive Soldier’s Medal
MONDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2011
FORT DRUM — On Tuesday, Sgt. Jacob Perkins will be awarded the Soldier’s Medal.
The award for non-combat acts of heroism will be presented to Sgt. Perkins, of the 1st Squadron 89th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, for helping rescue passengers from a bus and tractor-trailer collision on July 22.
The Soldier’s Medal was established for acts of heroism not involving conflict with an enemy.
